Level 3 Award in Shallow Water Pool Supervision and Rescue
Through this regulated and nationally recognised qualification, learners will gain the skills and knowledge needed to carry out shallow water rescue manoeuvres and administer prompt first aid interventions.
Intended Audience
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Shallow Water Pool Supervision and Rescue (RQF) is ideal for hotel or leisure staff with a duty to supervise and respond to shallow water emergencies up to 1.35m, who may need to perform water rescue techniques and first aid interventions.
The supervision elements of this course are intended to provide knowledge to Learners who operate in shallow water spaces up to 1.35m in line with HSG179 where supervision has been identified under a site-specific risk assessment.
This qualification may also be suitable for people who only have a duty to respond in water spaces up to 1.5m where constant supervision has not been identified within the pool specific risk assessment.
Note: This is not a lifeguard qualification.
Overview
During this 2-day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of shallow water emergencies, including: land-based rescue, retrieval of a submersible manikin, extended chin tow, vertical lift out, arm splint rollover into stabilisation, vice-grip turn into stabilisation, horizontal lift out, resuscitation, managing an unresponsive casualty and spinal injuries.
The learning outcomes are intended to provide a range of knowledge and skills in shallow water supervision and rescue to supplement organisations internal training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) based on site-specific risk and legal requirements.
