Coast Medic
The National Maritime Ambulance Charity.
Established in 2011 with a clear and vital purpose: to improve access to medical care in coastal, inshore and island communities.
For many people living, working, or enjoying time around the coast, timely access to emergency medical support can be challenging. Rural shorelines, remote beaches, harbours, estuaries, and island settings can all create delays when conventional ambulance resources are stretched or unable to reach a patient quickly. Coast Medic exists to help bridge that gap.
Our charity is dedicated to improving medical resilience in coastal communities and supporting faster access to lifesaving care where it is needed most. We work to strengthen the chain of survival at the coast through innovation, partnership, and practical frontline solutions.
Lifesaving Equipment & Training for Coastal Communities
Coast Medic has successfully supported the installation of more than £300,000 worth of public lifesaving equipment and delivered medical training across the coast of Cornwall, helping to protect communities and visitors alike.
This equipment and training has played an important role in improving emergency response in areas where every minute matters and where traditional ambulance access may be limited by geography, terrain, or distance.
Our work is focused not only on immediate lifesaving interventions, but also on shaping the future of coastal and maritime healthcare.
Innovative Projects
We are proud to support a number of innovative projects designed to improve timely access to medical provision, including initiatives that benefit communities such as the Isles of Scilly.
By exploring new ways to deliver care in hard-to-reach environments, we aim to help ensure that people are not disadvantaged simply because of where they live or where an emergency happens.
At the heart of everything we do is a mission to support the incredible work of the NHS and other marine search and rescue organisations, including the RNLI and SLSGB. We believe that by working alongside existing emergency services and coastal rescue partners, we can help strengthen outcomes, improve resilience, and save lives.
Coast Medic is more than a charity. It is a mission driven by compassion, clinical ambition, and a determination to make coastal communities safer.
